My Experience in Enactus- Back2Bag Project

My experience in Back2Bag project (B2b) begin in semester 3 and 4. With the commitment, i take the challenge to join the project for 1 year time. The picture show, it is the first time we meet and set for our target and goal to achieve during the 1 year.

B2b is one of the social project of Enactus UUM that helping the disabled people to increase their standard of living by crochet plastic bags. It is at the same time to recollect the unwanted plastic bags and turn it to another new kind of project, which achieve helping the 3 main things, People, Profit, and Planet.

When the time i join, it is a new project without any based, many trial and error apply on it, we spend a lot of time for research and development (R&D), and of course we do gain a lot from it.

Meeting + Birthday Celebration (November)

We do have the meeting every week on Sunday for discussion with the leading of our project director (PD) - Dick Lim. He give a lot of encouragement for the members, and of course me too, have receive a lot from him.

Disabled Center

After so many of meeting, of course we did outing for our project too, that is visiting the disabled center at Alor Setar. The picture taken when we have the first meet with the disabled people, ice-breaking with them. We enjoy the moment with them!

Later, we having outing every tuesday to teach them the technique to crochet the bags, and so on. It become part of life to visit them every tuesday, no only teaching them the skill, we do chit chatting with them, build up their confident with outsider, sharing the feeling, and try to more understand their life.

After stay in the jungle (UUM) for so long, we are release!
During the outing, we having our lunch with some delicious food, especially chinese food. It become more fun for our outing, not only visit the disabled people, our member too become closer to each other.

 We do collect in our campus by own- made-bin. To collect the plastic bags is not easy job. The plastics bags collected can be clean, average, dirty. At the acceleration week, we do collect our plastics bags, collect the needed plastic bags with full of dust and oily.

All the members help each other to make it done, within 15 minits, we done our stuff with full of sweat. But, for the project, we know that it is worth!

Go Green Hero Contest

Next, here the picture that we having the "Go Green Hero Contest" to encourage UUM student donate their unwanted plastic bags or collect it for us with the chance to win the hamper.

It is very successful that we have collected nearly 2500 of unwanted plastic bags. It show the UUM student is very supportive to our B2b project and environment care too.

The next picture show that we are doing the showcase to introduce our project to create more awareness of UUM student about B2b projects. We did the pre-order for the customer that interested to our product done by disabled people too.

There are few design for our crochet bags, that is coin pouch and pencil case, all with the different color mixed, and everyone is unique. All done by the disabled people, we as Enactus members just guide them beside. And of course all the collecting profit will be giving to center and distribute to the disabled people who work for it.

 For Enactus member, we are not only work, work, and work only. This is the Grand Dinner organised by Core Team (CT) for all the members. The purpose is to let the member get closer to another project members, and also provide the platform for member take part in organised event that benefited to all the members.

Lastly, this is the final goal that we want to achieve after preparing for a year. We sacrifice our time, put our effort in the project, to hope that we can achieve the champion and become the representative of Malaysia to compete with other countries.

 This is the first time i join Enactus Malaysia National Exposition (EMNE). I have gain a lot especially meet the CEO of oversea country the have give me a very good advice to become a good leader. Lastly, we get the 3rd place in the competition, although we can not get the champion, but at least we already commit the best as a member for our Enactus UUM team. I have no regret to join it, it do give me a lot of new experience.

Lastly, Enactus become part of my universities memory. I think it is the most things happen over here. I see a lot of things , broaden my mind over the entrepreneur world. And of course the people surrounding too, and i agree that i still have a lot to learn to improve myself, i am still weak in my own management skill. Good luck, Enactus UUM!...
